A Distinct Identity
Community Assistance Centre Inc. (CAC) is a not-for-profits organization, established in 2011, and subsequently registered within Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. Our organization knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives.
Back in 2011, a group of volunteers established our not-for-profits organization (CAC) to help community members who went through challenges (i.e., elderly people living alone at home, victims of crime, people who went through marriage breakup or health issues etc.) in their lives, and NOW there are more challenges as a result of coronavirus/Covid-19 pandemic, which has affected everyone’s life and lifestyle. We believe by working together we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, and that is why we ultimately decided to launch the website of Community Assistance Centre.
To August 2021, more than 10 years since 2011, our organization keeps our tradition, that is, all staff are volunteers including retired legal professionals, workers and retirees who dedicate their time, finance, and energy to make a difference. Our not-for-profit organization does not have government fund nor accept public donation for the past ten years. Nonetheless, we are proudly launch our online Covid-19 Chatline, and Psychological Consultations to help our community members with mental health issues to overcome the changes of Covid-19 we face since November 2021.
We recognise the need for community support for a diverse range of all peoples residing in Australia, and in 2011 we began putting our goals and values into real tangible efforts to support those who most need it.
1.Access to food is a human right
We believe that all Australians regardless of age, gender, country of birth, language or fitness has the right to food. We aim to help guarantee this basic human right for Australians in need.
2. Telephone elderly people who either lives alone or as a couple at home, on regular basis, as well as help them cleaning, cooking, and mowing and shopping upon request,
Many Australians in their golden years often feel isolated, especially due to the pandemic, and mental health in our elderly has unfortunately deteriorated, especially since the pandemic. We aim to ensure that they are aware that they are appreciated, cared for, and a valuable asset to the community.
3. Hygiene is a basic human right
Keeping Australians homes clean, and enabling Australians to live in healthy, hygienic conditions regardless of their personal ability to maintain tasks relating to hygiene, is a basic human right.
4. Support victims of crime and their families including providing general legal advice and court assistance
We believe that all Australian residents should have access to knowledge and information regarding our laws, our government-funded assistance for victims of crime, and mental health services. We aim to ensure that everyone is well-equipped with knowledge to use these systems if and when required.
5. Assist international students with their day-to-day challenge
Many students come from all over the world to Australia, seeing potential in themselves which this country truly does wish to help nurture and grow. We believe that many international students can often find confusion with a new country’s laws, assistance programs, cultures and traditions. We aim to provide assistance with understanding Australia, and how this country can help them reach their vocational goals.
